Tuesday Taste, A Short Explanation, and Me? A Writer?

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marcketta

Abandoned by her mother on Jellicoe Road when she was eleven, Taylor Markham, now seventeen, is finally being confronted with her past. Beut as the reluctant leader of her boarding school dorm, there isn't a lot of time for introspection. And while Hannah, the closest adult Taylor has to family, has disappeared, Jonah Griggs is back in town, moody stares and all.

Page 144: "The room goes sickeningly silent except for the sound of Choi's footsteps hurrying toward us, like he knows what Grigg's next move is going to be. But he is too slow, because Griggs has me pinned against the wall, my feet dangling so that we're eye to eye."

Now...why wasn't there a Monday post? Simple. Kiki and I were together, and when we get together, nothing gets done. lol

And...I've only been toying with the idea of being a writer for about a year now. When I was little, I wanted to be a veterinarian, then a dentist, then a pediatrician. Then I realized I cannot handle needles or blood or any sort of human secretion. Also, the older I got, the more I started to hate math and science. History is still okay, but as I get older, I'm becoming more and more obsessed with English. Why am I telling you all this?

It's because I've decided to start writing a novel! Yay. It probably won't be good, but it'll give me some experience. From what I've heard, writing a manuscript can take anywhere from 4 months to six years. So when I'm done with the first or second draft, (in 4 months or 6 years) I'll post some of it up so I can get some feedback from all of you learned readers.

That's all that's interesting me lately. Well, that and the soon-to-be-start of senior year and finishing Crime and Punishment (blech, it's leaving me no time for fun reading)

I look forward to reading your WIP. Did you see Zetta's latest? She has a WIP posted at Fledgling now.

There are few regular writing memes and challenges to help inspire the muse. I use to participate regularly in 3WW. I was just thinking I'd participate tomorrow. Check my blogroll for the link if you're interested.
