- We don't have the same taste in music, and your choices are making my ears bleed.
- Why is this page taking forever to load....? Oh. >:[
- How am I supposed to focus on reading what you wrote with that playing?
Basically, things that slow loading time annoy me. By all means slap a couple widgets and buttons on your page. But do you have to literally fill your sidebar with them, plus have a zillion buttons, plus have music? Seriously, coming from a reader, you'd get more comments if the page didn't take so long to load. By the time it's done I'm so frustrated that all I'm willing to wait for is the window to close.
No offense to anyone in particular. I know. I'm impatient. Is it just me? Let me know in comments.

I can't stand music playing on blogs. I will specifically avoid a blog if I know there's going to be music on it! I'm almost always playing my own music, so if I want to read something, I end up scrolling through the entire page just to find the little music thing to shut it up so I don't have two songs playing! So yeah, I'm definitely with you on the music thing.
I third your rant. I can't stand music on blogs. Half the time it scares me because I am not expecting it, the other half, I am annoyed because I am trying to focus on content. Another peeve of mine is also the sidebar. I love to look at things on the sidebar, but sometimes people just go overboard. Maybe people will realize one day that less can be more.
I have a few widgets on my page, so I hope it doesn't take too long to load. As for music, I keep my speakers on mute.
It's not just you. I find it annoying too. Anything that plays automatically on a blog and I have to go rooting around to find it to stop it is a pain. I even get annoyed with my 80s Awesomeness! posts when I do music. But I keep forgetting to turn off the automatic start! Thankfully that makes its way off the page. But still, it's annoying.
Bleh. I really don't like music starting when I open a page. It scares me for one, and it annoys me for two.
What you said. I hate it. I keep the sound turned off on my computer but sometimes I forget and suddenly Billy Joel (shudder) is screaming at me. Puts me in a very bad mood with that particular blog. Uggh.

I also do not like music on blogs. Sometimes my computer is super slow so it'll get stuck and all of a sudden music is blaring and I'm about to fall off my chair because of it.
I agree 100%. Annoying music is why I have my speakers turned off almost all the time. On book blogs, especially, it makes no sense; and I find it as annoying as having music pumped through the bookstore.
I can still tell when some blogs have music, though, because they hang my browser for a few seconds.
I so agree! especially because I usually don't like the music playing, it doesn't generally distract me if I like it but if I don''t then it annoys me.
I'm impatient too but it no longer bothers me. haha ;)
Tashi,
You are hilarious and I agree. Bloggers really need to read a few articles about good design. One of the biggies is don't put so much script on your page (widgets, backgrounds, flashing nonsense) that take forever to load.
Everyone is not traveling the net in a virtual caddy. Design your site to accomodate the lowest common denominator.
There are sites I no longer visit because besides being annoyed with the loading time, the more script you have on your page, the more at-risk you are for wackos to plant viruses.
I'm a visual person. But I hate, overly busy, cluttered sidebars. When your sidebars look like buffets, my eyes glaze over and I stop looking. It all becomes wallpaper.
I'll stop. Thanks.
Honestly, I find music on any site (other then musician's sites and such) quite distracting. Either let me read, or let me listen. Don't require me to do both at the same time. Especially since there is a chance I'm already listening to music, and you just interrupted. PLUS if you INSIST on putting music on your site, put the stop button somewhere obvious, if I have to look for it, the site will get closed, and I will NOT be back!
Cluttered sidebars aren't horrible, as long as there's enough space between all the items & the blog. If it's all scrunched together THEN there might be a problem!
LOL, right there with ya!
